Westchester County Legislator Gashi declared May 17th, 2024, as Music in Chappaqua Day. It isn’t every day that an institution is so honored. However, everyday Music in Chappaqua honors the goal of helping students find, hone and speak their voices into this world through music.
Music in Chappaqua has educated over 10,000 students from Chappaqua, Pleasantville, Armonk, Briarcliff Manor, Millwood, and throughout Westchester County. In addition to learning how to play an instrument, music education promotes self-expression, develops self-discipline and instills self-confidence.
Our music programs include private music lessons, group lessons, New York Rock Academy Summer Day Camp, indie workshops, and early childhood music classes, including Mommy & Me sessions. Our talented faculty customizes curriculum catered toward each student’s individual goals, interests, and abilities. Students help shape their course of study which in turn encourages practice at home to support and amplify their efforts.
Every year, there are numerous opportunities to perform at varying venues. Whether individually or as part of an ensemble, students have the confidence to be comfortable on stage. Audition preparation offers additional opportunities for students to perform specific tests, play events or pass certifications.
Music in Chappaqua was founded in 1994 by Angie Angier. She began her musical journey at a young age in Montreal. Her early proficiency developed into even teaching piano to friends and family beginning at age 13. She matriculated to the New England Conservatory of Music and graduated with honors. Her professional experience encompasses performing internationally with renown orchestras, including the Taiwan National Symphony and the Vienna Symphonietta.
Angie’s deep appreciation of music and her journey has informed:
- her innovative and ambitious approach to nurturing young musicians
- her recruitment and empowering others teaching music
Music in Chappaqua is dedicated to developing musical talent and fostering a community of support among musicians. The benefits of music education extend beyond classroom learning. Engaging visual, auditory, tactile, and kinesthetic abilities stimulates both hemispheres of the brain, promotes intellectual prowess, improves physical coordination, instills patience, and grows confidence. Moreover, learning music provides a channel for emotional expression, fostering a child’s maturation.
May 17th, 2024, being deemed as “Music in Chappaqua Day” was a great honor. The path to that day was over 30 years in the making. Every lesson, student, parent, performance, partner and teacher have all been integral to the wonderful journey we’ve enjoyed at Music in Chappaqua. We are thankful for every moment as well as the incredible community that has nurtured us all.
